Alan Smith tips his old club for Fifth Round upset as he predicts this week's FA Cup games

Former Premier League striker Alan Smith is predicting his old club, Leicester City, will pull off an FA Cup upset in this week's FA Cup Fifth Round.

The next round of football's oldest competition kicks off on Monday when non-league Maidstone United travel to Championship side Coventry to try and continue their FA Cup fairytale.

Across the midweek, there are eight fifth-round ties, and Smith believes that one of the biggest results will come at the Vitality Stadium as Bournemouth host Championship table-toppers Leicester.

Speaking to NewBettingSites.uk, Smith says the Foxes have what it takes to beat the Premier League side on the night.

Smith said; “They’re two similar teams in terms of playing style, but Bournemouth have had a slightly poor run in the Premier League having drawn a few games, so I think it’ll be tight and difficult to call. I think it’ll end a draw after 90 minutes, but Leicester will edge it after extra-time.”

A win for Leicester isn't the only shock Smith is predicting, the ex-Arsenal man also thinks Leeds could pile yet more misery on Chelsea as they visit Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

“I think this will be a dangerous one for Chelsea." Smith added.

"Everyone thinks that they might have turned a corner, but this vibrant Leeds team will rock up to Stamford Bridge. All of the Chelsea fans will be expecting a win at home, but I think there might be a shock on the cards!”

In the rounds remaining ties, the 61-year-old predicts wins for Man City away at Luton, Newcastle to overcome Blackburn, Liverpool to progress over Southampton and Wolves to beat Brighton. But when it comes to Manchester United's trip to Nottingham Forest, he says 'it's too tough to call'.

Smith also revealed who he'd like to see win the competition this year, and there are no surprises when it comes to his FA Cup Final wish.

Finishing by saying; “It’d be nice to see a non-Premier League team in the final, Maidstone would be great! If it was up to me, I think I’d like to see my old team Leicester in it beating Manchester City!”
