Ian Garry picks UFC card he wants to fight Colby Covington on

Irish welterweight Ian Garry says he "would love" to fight Colby Covington as the co-main event on a Conor McGregor-Michael Chandler card.

A fight between McGregor and Chandler has long been rumoured, but there has been no official confirmation that the pair will meet in the octogon to date.

Garry's desired fight against Covington is also yet to be confirmed, the Irishman says he has agreed to the fight and is waiting on Covington.

Garry, who is still undefeated with a 14-0 record, says fighting on a card headlined by his compatriot McGregor would be "phenomenal".

Speaking to Genting Casino, Garry said: "I would love Colby on the Conor McGregor-Michael Chandler card as the co-main.

"I don't know when that fight's going to happen but, I hope to god at UFC 300 we're finally going to get an announcement.

"I look up to Conor as a role model and as an inspiration who proved anyone can achieve their dreams. He showed us you can become UFC champion and do anything you ever dreamed of.

"We grew up very close to each other in Dublin and we're both on similar trajectories, obviously he's done it, and now it's my turn to do it.

"I don't see why the UFC would not put this on. If Conor is fighting, put me on the same card. I'll be there. It makes too much sense."

Garry most recently beat Geoff Neal by split decision at UFC 298 back in February to rise up to seventh in the welterweight rankings.
