Former Manchester United player says Jadon Sancho 'hasn't proven anything' at Borussia Dortmund

Jadon Sancho has returned to the club where he became one of football's most sought-after young players, but one Champions League winner isn't impressed by the 24-year-old's current stint at Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho made the move back to Germany at the beginning of this year after a tumultuous time at Manchester United, who bought the England international from Dortmund for a reported £73 million in 2021.

Despite sky-high expectations at Old Trafford, Sancho struggled to make an impression with the Red Devils, and last year he was exiled from the team by Erik ten Hag for not training at the standards expected by the manager.

Now back in more comfortable surroundings at Dortmund, Sancho is once again playing regularly and is a key part of the side that have advanced to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Yet despite Sancho's resurgence after leaving United, Louis Saha is not convinced by the sudden turnaround.

Speaking to Betfred, the two-time Premier League winner and part of the 2008 Champions League-winning side scoffed at the idea that Sancho has proven that he's a top level player after rejoining the German giants.

“I don’t believe he’s proving any point," Saha said. "The only point he’s proving is that he’s a talented player and if he wasn’t stubborn, he could have been doing what he’s doing for Borussia Dortmund for Manchester United now. He hasn’t proven anything."

Saha expanded on his thoughts by saying Sancho is at least partially responsible for his lack of impact at Old Trafford, with the player taking a big risk by not accepting Ten Hag's methods.

“There’s no doubt about his talent, but his attitude has been challenged during his time with Manchester United and the way he’s dealt with it has been to the risk of his own career," he said.

"Erik ten Hag knew he was missing the opportunity to play a good player and that’s it.

“It was a situation where the player, manager and club were all losing simultaneously. It’s all about ego and the club has to stop allowing those things to happen because it’s just not right. All that’s been proven is that things like this shouldn’t be happening at such a big club.” Live on DAZN PPV: Canelo vs. Munguia on May 4. Click here for details.
