Molly McCann sends message to the UFC after returning to winning ways

Molly McCann returned to winning ways at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night, submitting Diana Belbita to claim victory.

'Meatball' won with a second remaining in the first round, as the Romanian tapped out after a vicious looking arm-bar from the Liverpudlian.

McCann was fighting at strawweight for the first time in the UFC, having previously fought at flyweight where she won seven of 12 bouts.

The switch came after two straight losses, following which McCann said she considered retirement.

But now back to winning ways, McCann had an apology for the UFC.

"I'd like to take this time to apologise to the UFC, myself and my fans for not being at the right weight and for my last two performances," said McCann.

"But today I forgive myself.

"The plan was to be a world champion at 125lbs but it didn't work out.

"When the plan doesn't work, you don't change the goal; you change the plan. My coach promised me this would happen and I've listened.

"Take every day as it comes. I'm going to go and spend time with my family. And my gym, I've been putting some work in - I'm going to have a beer and see you soon!"
