Former Liverpool defender names shock replacement for manager Jurgen Klopp

Former Liverpool defender Glen Johnson believes current Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino could be a worthy replacement for Jurgen Klopp. 

Earlier this year, Klopp announced that his time at the club will be coming an end as he looks to take a break from management. 

The German has brought plenty of success since arriving in October 2015 with a Premier League and Champions League title just some of the silverware he has won with the Reds. 

Since Klopp announced his decision to leave Liverpool, speculation has been rife as to who will take over, with Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim a heavy favourite. 

However, in a recent interview with Betfred, Johnson put forward his case as to why Pochettino should replace Klopp.

“I know people will think that I’m absolutely mad, but Mauricio Pochettino is a big name that can go into that job and grab everyone's attention," Johnson said. 

"That would excite people despite what’s happened at Chelsea this season because I don’t believe what’s gone on there is Mauricio’s fault.

"You don’t become a bad manager overnight and if he inherited that Liverpool squad, then I believe he could do good things at Anfield.”
