His five wins since - the most impressive of which was his split-decision win over Josh Taylor in 2023 - means he is looking to mount yet another defence of his WBO crown.

For many, that had been expected to be a bout with Jack Catterall, still considered one of the division's greats - but the latter did not do enough to stop Arnold Barboza Jr.

The latter's victory, away from home soil in Manchester in February, sent shockwaves through the division and teed up the veteran fighter for a shot at the world crown himself.
