Travis Clayton drafted by Buffalo Bills: Who is he? What position does he play? When was he picked?
Published: Apr 28, 2024It has been a good few months for British rugby players trying to break into the NFL. The most high profile of which, Louis Rees-Zammit, was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs in late March, and now there is another name to add to the list. With the 221st pick in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills selected Travis Clayton. The 23-year-old previously played rugby for his home town of Basingstoke, who are in the eighth tier of domestic rugby in England - the Counties 2 Hampshire division. Clayton, who stands at 6' 7" tall, has been drafted as an offensive lineman for the reigning AFC East champions. After going through the International Player Pathway (IPP), Clayton caught the eye of NFL franchises when he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.79 seconds at their pro day. Buffalo say Clayton's time was the quickest they have seen for an offensive lineman in a decade, and was a factor in their selection. Live on DAZN PPV: Canelo vs. Munguia on May 4.
