Harry Redknapp picks his star man of the week and hits out at 'ridiculous standards' he is held to

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp picked Manchester City forward Erling Haaland as his star performer of the week’s football.

The Norwegian striker notched four goals for City as they crushed Wolverhampton Wanderers 5-1, and if they win their remaining Premier League games they will be champions.

The four goals took Haaland to 36 for the season so far, and he is unlikely to match his haul of 52 achieved last season.

Redknapp lauded the striker for his continued good form this season, even if it does not quite match his statistics of 2022/23.

He told BetVictor: “How could my star man not be Erling Haaland?

“He was exceptional against Wolves and just destroyed them at times. He scored four and he came off the pitch unhappy, that says it all.

“You saw the pace of the lad for the penalty he won, it was scary.

“That’s now 25 goals in 28 games for him in the league this season, and people are saying he’s having a quiet season!

“The standards we hold this lad to are ridiculous.”
