FC Luzern looking to sell Australia international Tomi Juric - report

Less than two months after being axed from the Socceroos, Tomi Juric appears to be being forced out of his Swiss club FC Luzern.

The 27-year-old played a full 90 minutes for Luzern against Neuchatel Xamax on Sunday, in his seventh Swiss Super League appearance this season.

Despite that, the Luzerner Zeitung reports that Juric has been told he can negotiate with other clubs and has been barred from training with the first team.

Juric has been with the Swiss club since July 2016 after joining from Dutch Eredivisie team Roda JC.

It's claimed Juric, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has been omitted for "sporting and strategic reasons," not for anything behaviour-related.

"Juric has been struggling since last summer, I felt he was not 100 percent present," sporting director Remo Meyer told the Luzerner Zeitung.

"Juric should be free to negotiate with other clubs."

The decision caps a horror couple of months for Juric, who was overlooked by Australia coach Graham Arnold when the Socceroos' Asian Cup squad was announced in December.

When injury ruled out Martin Boyle in the build-up to the tournament in January, Arnold opted to again overlook Juric and named Cyprus-based Apostolos Giannou instead.

Several options exist as possible destinations for Juric.

Clubs in several countries including Croatia, Russia and Poland in Europe, as well as China and Korea in Asia, have active transfer windows. The Swiss transfer window closes on Friday.
