Former Man United ace finds bright sparks in club's disappointing season

Manchester United fans haven't had too much to cheer about this season after a disappointing campaign.

The Red Devils are seemingly out of contention for a Champions League place and could finish in their worst-ever Premier League position, increasing the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.

However, the club do have an FA Cup semi-final to look forward to this weekend, while a former Old Trafford favourite has found some reasons to be positive in United's inconsistent season.

Lee Sharpe was a Premier League winner with the club in the 1990s, and despite the negativity around the club at the moment, has pinpointed the emergence of key players as something he's been impressed with.

Speaking exclusively to DAZN thanks to online casino provider BetVictor, Sharpe said: "I think the goalkeeper was under a lot of pressure when he first came in and was slaughtered a lot.

"Changing from De Gea - one of the best goalies in Europe - was a very brave decision from the manager and he's now coming through well after what was a tricky start for him.

"Then you've got to look at the young lads. You look at Kobbie Mainoo, Garnacho, Hojlund in patches. With United it's looking at the youth and the young players for that bright spark, which is not always something you expect. You expect the senior players to carry them through, when actually it's the younger players that are standing out."
