Former super-middleweight world champion hopes to end his career at heavyweight

Gilberto Ramirez is aiming for another world title when he clashes with Arsen Goulamirian for Armenian’s WBA cruiserweight belt.

Eager to add more championships to his collection, Ramirez will not be done if he succeeds against Goulamirian and he’s even targeting a move to heavyweight where he thinks he’ll end his career.

Ramirez burst onto the scene impressively in 2016 when he became world champion at 168lbs with victory over Arthur Abraham.

A move to light-heavyweight failed to bring similar glory as he was beaten by Dmitry Bivol in 2022, but that setback hasnt deterred Ramirez’s plans as he gets ready for his next at the end of March.

“There are still a lot of fights that can be made in this division,” said Ramirez when speaking to World Boxing News.

“I’d love to unify and/or become the undisputed Champion before I make the move up. When it’s all said and done, my goal is to be a multi-division Champion and end my career as a heavyweight.”
