Bryan Danielson reveals his plans for retirement and goals in AEW

Bryan Danielson has stated that he has no plans to retire again following his first forced hiatus from wrestling.

A concussion injury saw Danielson emotionally hang up his boots in 2016, and it looked like we'd never see the American Dragon wrestle again. However, after repeated examinations over two years, he was cleared to compete again by WrestleMania 34.

Now 42 and currently part of the AEW roster, there has been speculation that the former WWE champion may be looking to wind down his career once again.

However, speaking at the SXSW 2024 panel, Danielson quashed the idea of any possible retirement plans.

He said: "I don’t use the ‘r-word’. I already had to do that once and I don’t wanna do it again. I wanna leave it open to be able to wrestle when I’m 75 if I so choose."

Danielson also spoke about his future role in AEW, and how he wants to pass on his knowledge and stardom to the next generation.

Adding:."One of the things that I loved about AEW and just the idea of it is just that it made the pro wrestling industry healthier and so when I look at that, how do I make this industry that I’ve loved since I was a child — how do I make it healthier? And the idea is to pass on the stardom that I’ve been given to try to pass that on to the younger wrestlers."
