Eddie Hearn reveals plans for new major boxing event in the UK

Eddie Hearn has revealed that his new boxing format in conjunction with Frank Warren could be headed to the UK later this year. 

The 5-on-5 style card, which will pit boxers from Hearn's Matchroom stable against those made up from Warren's Queensbury promotion, will make its debut in Saudi Arabia later this year, most likely in June. 

However, speaking on the Matchroom YouTube channel, Hearn teased that a second instalment, to be hosted in London in September, has already been discussed. 

"His Excellency has talked about potentially doing a second version of this event in London in September," he said. 

"The format is going to be really compelling and exciting for the fans. I’m desperate to win, Frank is desperate to win, and there are going to be some massive fights.”

Hearn also updated fans on the status of the Saudi event, with a press conference scheduled for as early as next month. 

Adding, “The filming has been done, and it is down to His Excellency when that will be released. We have confirmed the weight classes which will be revealed soon, then there will be a press conference in April when the fighters will be revealed.

“The fighters, Matchroom, Queensbury, won’t know who they are facing, won’t know the line-up, until the press conference on the day. There will be some very interesting reveals that will blow your mind. It’s going to be a lot of fun, we can’t wait.”
