Former rival of Canelo Alvarez ready to make return to action

Caleb Plant is ready to make his return to the ring following a period of inactivity after losing to David Benavidez last year.  

Plant was eager to impose himself on the Arizona man, but he was unable to claim victory as Benavidez maintained his unbeaten record with a points victory over the former world champion. 

In 2021, Plant aimed to become undisputed champion at 168lbs when facing Canelo Alvarez, but he was stopped in the 11th round by the impressive Mexican.  

The Tennessee man is keen to test himself once again in a high-profile fight and he’s identified Jermall Charlo as an ideal next opponent. 

“It’ll probably be a tune-up. I’m coming back in the summer. I think the [Jermall] Charlo fight makes the most sense,” said Plant when speaking to Fighthype  

“I know everybody wants to see that, and that’s a big fight for boxing. It’s going to push the culture forward and push boxing forward. It’s something that excites me, and I want to be a part of it.”
