Daniel Dubois reveals hopes for winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Anthony Joshua

The two heavyweights clash this Saturday.

WBA regular champion Daniel Dubois has reservations over Anthony Joshua’s chances of defeating Oleksandr Usyk this Saturday.

The heavyweight pair fight this weekend after their first fight in September ended with the 34-year-old Ukrainian walking away with the IBF, WBA, and WBO championship belts.

As the WBA’s secondary champion, Dubois would likely be in line for a crack at the winner of this weekend’s fight, but speaking to iD Boxing, the Briton was far from certain it would be Joshua victorious.

“I hope AJ wins,” Dubois said, according to BoxingScene.com. “I can’t picture it in my head, but I hope he wins. I hope he goes out there and puts it on Usyk, takes it to, and really roughs him up. It would be better for me if Joshua wins. For the heavyweights out there, it’s better if Joshua wins.

“But Usyk is an amazing fighter, he has amazing skills, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he wins again.”

Dubois said he hoped Joshua would win but explained that he thought Usyk perhaps had more skills.

“AJ is a fellow Brit,” he explained. “Of course, AJ, I hope he wins. We’re both big punchers. It goes without saying. Usyk is a trickier fighter to me. He hits you with shots where you don’t know where they’re coming from.”
